G.V. Hurley's in Sacramento

G.V. Hurley's in Sacramento: TwinSoup Taste Test

We originally blogged about G.V. Hurley's Restaurant & Bar in early March...we had little to go on at the time except for some scary comments made to the SacBee about a "masculine, yet edgy" design concept and goals of having lots of "water and fire themes"....so, naturally as women, we poked fun at their caveman design ambitions (ahhh...men, will they ever get it?!) and went back on our blogging way...

What's surprising though ladies? These men have seemed to actually pull off what few of us would thought possible! A masculine bar & restaurant that feels warm and inviting?! It sounds like an oxymoron I know, but after we visited the restaurant during their second soft Grand Opening last Thursday, we have concluded that these guys knew something that we didn't... that if they built it masculine, we would come... (Go where you will with that last comment...)

What we especially love about this restaurant?
Love, love, love the huge circular bar, the wood cabin meets Miami feel, the double-sided outdoor patio fireplace, the huge Paragary-rivaling back patio with it's wall of water and the secluded dining room with private patio area perfect for a b-day dinner party! But, the best part about this restaurant?? The lighting! Ok, if any men are reading, this is your cue...roll your eyes, log off of TwinSoup and log on to NBA Sports...phew, that was a close one....

In all seriousness, as women we know that how good we feel we look while out and about directly affects a) if we have a good of bad time and b) if we will ever return! Having said that, let me assure you ladies that the lighting is soft, it is forgiving and it is exactly the rosey pink glow that makes us look and feel our best!

Oh, and the food? Well, didn't try any of that... (did you really think a 'taste test' would have anything to do with the food?! ) however, we did eye some low-calorie looking breaded mac n' cheese 'poppers' and tested a choco martini which was divine! For a look at their menu click here.

G.V. Hurley's is located at 2718 J Street in midtown Sacramento.
