Fat Face Opens: I Scream, You Scream
You still can’t hear Pop Goes the Weasel without a smile spreading across your face. Memories of warm summer days, dashing inside to grab some quarters, standing on the curb, craning your neck to see all the icy cold sweets of the day. Yeah, the ice cream man days may be gone, but the joy of frozen confections need not be.
Whipping up gourmet popsicles since 2005, Fat Face in Davis recently opened with an expanded menu including soups and sandwiches (OR sammich–for that skinned-knee kid inside).
Still the main star of the cafe, popsicle flavors change daily. Favorites include Thai Tea and Sweet Potato and Kaffir Lime and Avocado. Traditionalists can nibble on more familiar pops like Strawberry Coconut.
The sammich combos are as unique as their frozen counterparts: roast pork, persimmon, goat cheese and arugula and grilled cheese with aged cheddar, herb butter and sliced walnut.
Wash it all down with a River City root beer or a sparkling apple juice. Inner child content.
