Kupros Bistro Opens: Cheers to You
Sometimes, you want to go where everybody knows your name.
Take a break form all your worries — Kupros Bistro opens in Downtown Sacramento. Former house, once crazy costume shop, now an inviting neighborhood gastropub.
With two stories, stained glass domed ceiling, a wrap-around Cliff Clavin-approved mahogany bar and plenty of patio seating, there’s plenty of room to get cozy with nearly a dozen American and Belgian beers — or just chill on the deck with and take in the Sacramento summer nights.
Chef John Gurnee, alum of the Paragary’s Group, and most recently, Mason’s, has crafted a menu of classic pub food with a foodie and locavore bent. Favorites include calamari salad (cornmeal-crusted calamari, arugula, mango lime vinaigrette) and a charcuterue platter. Poutine, a Canadian import, delights with French fries dripping in oxtail gravy and fresh cheese curds.
Snacks, such as fried pickles or homemade kettle chips, pair well with Kupros’s array of American and Belgian beers (Arrogant Bastard Ale, anyone?). A wine list spotlights Northern California wineries, and coffee goes local in the form of roastry Old Soul.
And they’re always glad you came.
