Sacramento Political News: Karen Bass to be the next Assembly Speaker…
Reported last night, Assemblywoman Karen Bass, a Los Angeles Democrat, has secured the votes to become the next speaker of the California Assembly.
This will mark the first time in the history of California that an African American woman has been elected to this post!
The current speaker, Fabian Nunez, will be forced from office by term limits at the end of 2008. His reign as speaker will have been the longest of the term limits age.
