The Accordion Pleat: Detail-Oriented

You’re all about the details. As long as they don’t involve credit card statements, an explanation why your car isn’t working, or any fine print.

Welcome a detail you can fully embrace: The Accordion Pleat.

Unlike big and boxy pleats of the past, this summer’s
pleat is tiny, feminine and ultra flattering –  in flowing fabrics and soft prints to bold metallics and sheer chiffon.

A Halston Heritage staple for seasons, the accordion pleat was a common story on catwalks this season - popping up in collections from Alice & Olivia and Elie Tahari, to Haute Hippie and Rebecca Taylor.

Versatile and romantic, the accordion pleat is easily dressed up or down. For evening fundraiser chic: Try a pleated chiffon gown in a pale pastel with a strappy sandal and a stack of delicate bangles. For effortless day: Work the same gown, add an oversized tee, and finish with a straw fedora and nude ballet flats.

Another way to go both ways: Pair a sheer pleated maxi with a white linen button down, tied at the waist. Make sure to roll up the sleeves haphazardly, add fringe T-straps and some wide rimmed glasses for daytime hipster cool. For happy hour, Febreze your maxi, swap the button down for a simple silk tank, and add a metallic wedge espadrille.

Because you’re detail-oriented, accordion to you.
