TreyBCakes Bakery Opens: Been There, Baked That

Your ex was wrong about a lot of things. Take his opinion that owning 285 pairs of shoes meant you didn’t need a 286th. 

As if.

So now that you’ve clearly moved on (you even called him to tell him just that!), it’s time to pack up your surveillance equipment and move on to sweeter options.

First stop: Just opened TreyBCakes in Midtown.

A gourmet bakery and eatery serving up fresh baked pies, hand-spun gelato and themed specialty cakes all day long, owner Trey Luzzi’s goal is to serve the local lunchtime crowd looking for on-the-go gourmet. The mid-day menu is small — just six or so options daily — each prepared to perfection with attention to sweet and savory detail.

Daily specials include meatball sandwiches, home-baked lasagna and a creamy cannelloni. His specialty: Stud Muffins — delicious little meatloaf “cupcakes” in a phyllo dough cup topped with piped mash potatoes. For a sweet treat, finish it off with a slice of authentic Waldorf Astoria red, white macaroon cupcake or a slice of New York cheesecake with a mug of French-pressed coffee.

The bakery is cheerful and bright with lots of yellow and ornate accents: Sip
a cappuccino on a comfy leather couch and take in the small gallery or rotating local art. Or bring your iPad and set up office shop with free Wi-Fi and plenty of table seating.

For late nights feel free to chase the party til 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturdays. And stay tuned - wine and liquor dessert and drink pairings coming soon!

What a sugar rush.
